Hi, I’m Dr. Cristina Louk
My Yoga Journey: From Performance to Presence in Woodinville, WA
I began my yoga journey in the 1980s in a small Northern California town, growing up as a teenage ballet dancer. At first, yoga was just another form of physical training—a way to stretch, strengthen, and improve alignment. I discovered it through a TV broadcast, following a flow-based program after my daily aerobics class, and later explored Kundalini practices. I loved it, but I didn’t yet understand its deeper purpose.
Through my twenties and thirties—dabbling with Light on Yoga, the Yoga Sutras, and Hot Yoga—I still approached yoga through the lens of performance. Posture and alignment mattered more than presence. I was doing the poses, but not fully connecting with myself.
Everything shifted in my fifties. After navigating a long and challenging dark night of the soul, I returned to yoga—not as exercise, but as a path to Purusha, my true Self.
Today, yoga is not something I “do”—it’s something I live. My practice honors my body, supports nervous system regulation, and integrates the teachings of the Yoga Sutras to help heal trauma, quiet an ADHD mind, and reconnect with deep inner stillness.
I have found what I was searching for all along: peace, presence, and purpose.
At Peace Humanistic Therapy in Woodinville, I now offer Yoga Therapy not as a performance, but as a therapeutic, neurodiversity-affirming, and deeply human path of healing. Whether you are struggling with anxiety, trauma, ADHD, or disconnection from yourself, I invite you to explore this path with me.
Together, we’ll move beyond the poses and into the heart of yoga—returning to your authentic Self, cultivating presence, resilience, and lasting well-being.
